The Perdue workers injured at the Agribusiness rendering plant were burned about 1 p.m. Monday, according to the company. The plant is located in Bertie County.
A company spokesman said both employees were given first aid until rescue crews arrived. Both employees were airlifted to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The spokesperson said he did not know the conditions of the employees.
Perdue operates both a rendering plant and a processing plant on the property. The employees’ family members were notified and an investigation was under way. The company said 86 people are employed at the rendering plant.
